Life in Santa Ana

There are a great many places to live in Southern California, but those who choose Santa Ana do so for a reason. As the largest city in Orange County, Santa Ana is one of the most densely populated cities in America, but still boasts a quiet, relaxed day-to-day lifestyle. However, because of its proximity to neighboring Anaheim and Los Angeles, residents can still enjoy all the luxury and excitement of urban living.

For that poor PCB designer living in chilly North Dakota, nothing could seem sweeter on a cold winter's day than the thought of the weather in California. While they're wrapped up in their high temperature blanket, the people of Santa Ana are strolling through any one of the pedestrian friendly streets that give its neighborhoods a warmth and sense of community.

Within Santa Ana's dense suburban communities is a solid education system to support the 53% of local households that have children under 18. There are over fifty schools within the Santa Ana Unified School District, ranging from kindergarten to grade 12, with an online accountability report card provided for every student, giving parents a lifting sling with which to support their children's education. For faith driven families, there are a number of Catholic schools in Santa Ana where kids can earn a solid education without sacrificing their Catholic teachings.

If you're new to town and looking to get away from the sheet metal bender industry, there's a variety of options available to you. Just under half of the employment for residents of Santa Ana comes through the service industry, providing residents with everything from Americano coffees to aquarium test kits. Many of the city's other residents find a living in managerial, administrative, or corporate positions. Among Santa Ana's more recognizable employers are Xerox, T-Mobile, Behr Paint, and Rickenbacker, the producers of electric guitars and basses used by rock 'n roll greats down through the ages, from the Beatles to U2.

Santa Ana is also home to one of the country's largest historic districts, the French Park Neighborhood. Founded in 1878, the neighborhood is home to a variety of residential and retail areas, many of which are historic heritage sites. At the heart of it all is French Park, which provides the neighborhood with much needed green space. French Park is a great site for tourists and locals alike, with many events such as a jazz festival and historical home tours, keeping the spirit of Santa Ana alive, both old and new.

Though it may not have the pomp and posh of Los Angeles, Santa Ana provides residents with a feeling of community, warmth, and belonging. For well over a hundred years, the city and its people have shared the Southern California culture and weather with their neighbors, while providing a flavor to the state all their own. Whether you're planning a move or just a visit, Santa Ana will be more than happy to welcome you.
